While Kaizer Chiefs fans are still sleeping on Brandon Petersen’s talent, some scouts in Europe are reportedly well aware of his quality.
It’s no exaggeration to say Kaizer Chiefs never get it wrong with goalkeepers.
Reports say the club’s newest number one is set to be followed by scouts in Europe.
As we all witnessed last season, the Amakhosi gloves were first taken by Daniel Akpeyi before the departed goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter informed former coach Stuart Baxter that Petersen was the best at Naturena.
The Ajax Cape Town academy graduate soon grabbed the number one spot before an injury before Bafana Bafana duty and an apparent mistake saw coach Arthur Zwane’s harshly replace him with Bruce Bvuma in the final games of the season.
Despite seemingly losing his place late last season, reports say the former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper had already done enough to catch the eye of a couple of talent hunters.
“Soccer Laduma has been informed that the 27-year-old has in the past had his name circulating in Europe for any clubs looking for a quality goalkeeper,” the outlet reported in their latest edition.
“But with the COVID-19 pandemic circulating the market, those conversations didn’t pick up momentum.
“The coming season could be a big one and open that door again for Petersen, leaving Chiefs to consider whether to give him new terms or invite bids for his services,” the publication concluded.
