A scene of the deadly incident in Mgababa, south of Durban after a family in Mgababa, south of Durban in KZN, allegedly kept the body of a deceased relative inside their home without reporting the death.
It’s alleged the deceased woman was living with her daughter-in-law at the time of her death.

Instead of reporting the matter to authorities, the daughter-in-law allegedly approached neighbours asking them to help dig up a grave.
The incident happened in the Mgababa, Area 35, and left residents horrified after a strong smell started coming from the house.
Concerned neighbours raised the alarm, prompting police to visit the property.
KZN police spokesman Paul Magwaza said Umkomaas officers made the shocking discovery after receiving reports from the community.
“An inquest docket has been registered after police discovered that a family had kept the body of a deceased member in a separate room. Investigations into the cause of death are still ongoing,” said Magwaza.
Police remained at the scene waiting for forensic experts to examine the body and determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. No arrests have been made at this stage.

Police urged the public to immediately report all deaths so that proper legal and health procedures can be followed.
