Latest reports have revealed that the Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove has suffered an Achilles tendon rupture which could sideline him for over six months.
According to Soccer-Laduma, the club has decided not to register the Mozambican international until he fully recovers from the injury.
Insiders at the club added that Chiefs are working hard to sign a defender before the transfer window closes on September 30.
The source noted that this is the main reason the club is looking at bringing in Angolan defender Inacio Miguel and Stellenbosch FC left-back Fawaaz Basadien.
“It has been a hard decision to make but they are looking for the good of the team. If they register Dove that means they are as good as minus one player.
“They are looking at both having a player, as well as the foreign space,” the Siya source stated.
A second insider stated that the team is aiming to bring in two foreign players before the registration window closes.
“You know the team is still looking at bringing it at least two foreign players, one striker and one defender so not registering Dove will help the team to have a good quota of foreign players.”
“But the main thing is his injury is expected to take a long time to heal and they want to register enough players even without him,” the second insider stated.
As Chiefs navigate this challenging situation, their focus remains on strengthening the squad to ensure they are well-prepared for the upcoming season.
