Kaizer Chiefs are set to welcome two key players back ahead of two crucial fixtures in the DStv Premiership and the MTN8 over the next two weekends.
Amakhosi were dealt a double blow in a matter of days when midfielder George Matlou, who had only made his way back onto the bench following an injury layoff, was sent off after the MTN8 first leg semi-final against AmaZulu, despite not touching a ball on the day.
Compounding Chiefs’ woes was the fact that ever-present defender Zitha Kwinika was also handed a one-match suspension just three days later after accumulating four yellow cards, of which the last came against Swallows FC.
Samkelo Zwane was included on the bench in place of Matlou, while Siyabonga Ngezana returned to the starting XI to replace Kwinika.
Kwinika served a one-match suspension, while Matlou sat out for two matches.
With Chiefs’ matches set to resume this weekend after a six-day break, Zwane will be delighted to have both players available for their matches against Chippa United and AmaZulu – both matches will be played in Durban.
Not only will Chiefs be looking to continue their DStv Premiership three-match winning streak against the Chilli Boys, but they will also be looking to progress to the final of the MTN8, which will take the club one step closer to potentially ending their seven-year trophy drought.
