Kaizer Chiefs have surprisingly turned down an opportunity to sign Lamontville Golden Arrows midfielder Pule Mmodi.
Since being firstly linked with the Golden Arrows and Bafana Bafana winger at the end of last season, Amakhosi had been expected to re-visit their interest in the 29-year-old again now that the transfer window has opened though that doesn’t seem to be in the plans anymore.

Both Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have been strongly linked with the Theunissen-born player and have been joined in their interest by Arrows’ provincial neighbours AmaZulu.
As reported by the Siya crew, Pirates have emerged as favourites to land the attack-minded player’s services, following the latest deal between the Soweto giants and Abafana Bes’thende which has seen Ntsako Makhubela return to KwaZulu-Natal on loan.

Sources in the know have confirmed to the Siya crew that Chiefs had been contacted at the beginning of this week to alert them on the Bafana international’s availability, but the Glamour Boys declined the opportunity to sign him hence the emergence of their perennial rivals as the favourites.
“Chiefs is out of the race in Pule Mmodi chase,” an insider confirmed to the Siya crew.
“I know this for a fact because Chiefs were contacted this week about the availability of the player but they said they are not interested.

“A top official from Chiefs said the club has no interest in Mmodi because they are covered in his position.
“That left the player with no choice but to assess his other options hence the big possibility to sign for Pirates,” the source concluded.
