Kaizer Chiefs’ fixture against Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium will carry further weight with a move to the top of the standings at stake.

Arthur Zwane’s men will chase the three points aware that what has become a rare seat at the top of the standings is there for the taking if Richards Bay don’t take all three points against Maritzburg United earlier in the day.

AmaKhosi have won three in a row in the league for the first time since January last year and will now be out to stretch it to four in front of a bigger crowd at Moses Mabhida than would have been the case if they had played this fixture at their traditional home FNB Stadium.

“It motivates us as a team.

“It gives us strength, and hunger to keep going thinking of the support that we have.

“You have everything to be happy about and work hard for them,” points out exciting winger Kgaogelo Sekgota.

Chiefs will also be buoyed by their recent form against Chippa.

From their last six meetings with the Chilli Boys, they have won five and lost just once scoring 11 and conceding just twice.

Leaders and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns will only be back in league action on Wednesday when they host Marumo Gallants.

It has been a month since The Brazilians last played a league game with their last having been the 1-0 win over AmaZulu on September 18.

Since then, there has been a FIFA calendar after which they have played in the MTN8 and the CAF Champions League.
