Kaizer Chiefs were in talks to sign one of the biggest names on the continent however the money just didn’t add up for the Amakhosi.

According to the latest reports, Chiefs were close to signing former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly star Percy Tau.

Tau had been a free agent after parting ways with Qatar SC. The diminutive winger was on the lookout for a new club, and Chiefs came knocking.

Unfortunately though, Kaizer Chiefs couldn’t meet Tau’s salary demands and the deal fell through.

“Talks, however, broke down after the two parties failed to agree on his salary demands, which proved too costly for Amakhosi,” a Citizen report read.

“Even though he agreed to a reduced package compared to his earnings abroad, the figure was still considered excessive by the Soweto giants.”
