Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Gaston Sirino has reportedly been unsettled and hoping to gain more playing time, with recent developments indicating that a PSL club is interested in securing his services.

Soccer-Laduma had reported how Sirino may be close to leaving Sundowns if a solution can be found on his current contract.

Siya sources close to the club have indicated that Kaizer Chiefs are monitoring the Uruguayan midfielder’s situation, and are believed to be poised to act once there is clarity on his future and if he is ready to leave Masandawana.

“Since he made it clear that he would want to leave and go where he would play more regularly there have been a few teams which have made inquires about his services and one of those teams is Kaizer Chiefs,” said the Siya source.

“Negotiations may not have started but Chiefs are interested and he is on their shopping list for next season,” the source told the Siya crew.

Insiders also noted that Chiefs might be looking to replace a few midfielders, and view Sirino as an ideal candidate for the new role.

A second Siya source discussed how Chiefs have to first wait to see what happens between the Brazilians and Sirino.

“Negotiations could start as soon as Sundowns can give him the go ahead because he still has a contract with the club.

“So for now he is still a Mamelodi Sundowns player and only when they reach a mutual agreement for him to leave the club then Chiefs would have a clear chance of talking to him or if they want to buy him outright then talks can start anytime.

“But they have listed him as one of the players they are interested in,” a second Siya source told Soccer Laduma.

The potential acquisition of Sirino by Chiefs could significantly alter the dynamics of Amakhosi.

Sirino’s arrival could bolster their midfield options as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming season where the club is hoping to finally win silverware again.
