Latest reports have reveled that Kaizer Chiefs could lose yet another key player to one of the European clubs before the June transfer window closes.
According to Soccer-Laduma, the European club interested in the Amakhosi defender is Spartak Moscow, and they have been following his progress for some time now.
The sources added that the Russian club wanted the former TS Galaxy defender before he even joined Chiefs and that they never lost track of the South African defender.
“That’s true. The interest has been there but when Given (Msimango) moved from Galaxy to Chiefs it went a bit quite. Only now after the team returned back from Turkey is when things came up again.
“At the moment I can just tell you that it’s Spartak Moscow but most details are in the office and they are the ones looking at it,” said the Siya source.
“But personally I don’t think it could happen this season unless the money is too good. They wouldn’t want to disturb what the coach is building already at this stage.
“But again this is football and anything is possible. Let’s wait and see, but yes, it’s Spartak Moscow,” the source added.
Meanwhile, a second insider at the club stated that the only time they can let Msimango go is if they can find the right replacement for him, which could be in January.
“It’s too sudden now though the interest has been there but no one thought they could be moving in for him right now.
“The team is not ready to release him at this point unless or until they can find a replacement.
“You know they are already looking at offloading Zitha Kwinika and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe so they can’t risk with Given as he is their main central defender now,” said the second source.
“With Inacio (Miguel) coming in they want him to play with Given and only if they can go into the market now and have a new central defender in January then they can think about that.
“But not now. Yes, the interest is there but there is nothing happening yet so he will stay for now,” the second source added.
