Kaizer Chiefs and other potential suitors could find it difficult in their pursuit of Golden Arrows and Bafana Bafana midfielder Pule Mmodi.

Mmodi has been a target for Chiefs since last season although there was no deal for the attacker in the recently ended transfer window after the two clubs reportedly failed to agree on terms.

Mmodi, 29, has been one of the top performers in the DStv Premiership in the early stages of the 2022/23 season and indications are that Amakhosi are monitoring the player and still keen on him.

The Theunissen-born player scored in all of Arrows’ last four matches before the FIFA international break and was rewarded for his inspiring form with a call-up to Bafana Bafana.

Pule did come on as Hugo Broos’ men defeated Sierra Leone 4-0 in their international friendly match at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Indications from sources in the know are that Abafana Bes’thende are keen to extend the contract of their prized asset.

Mmodi is left with under 10 months on his contract with the KwaZulu-Natal club, and while Chiefs and other potential suitors are monitoring him, Arrows are keen to extend the player’s deal, according to sources, to avoid the risk of losing him on a free once he enters the last six months of the deal in January.
