In what would be a shock for every football fan, a former Mamelodi Sundowns star attacker is now a free agent after leaving TS Galaxy.

Sibusiso Vilakazi has parted ways with The Rockets barely six months after joining them from the Brazilians following a fall-out with coach Sead Ramovic.

And the fall-out stemmed from Vilakazi’s lack of game time, after having managed just 10 appearances since his arrival despite being considered an integral member of TS Galaxy’s squad.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Vilakazi’s agent Mike Makaab said the decision to part ways purely mutual after ‘things didn’t work out as anticipated’ between the two parties.

Kaizer Chiefs are Vilakazi’s long admirers, and after having only signed Christian Saile and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe on a pre-contract, perhaps the attacker’s availability could entice them.

Amakhosi chased after Vilakazi since his days with the now defunct Bidvest Wits, but it was former club’s reluctance to sell to Chiefs that led to him failing to move to Soweto.

And perhaps Chiefs could be tempted to re-ignite that interest but bearing in mind his age (33) as they have been on a mission to reduce the average age of their squad.
