Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is keen on luring Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster to England before the end of the January window.

According to iDiski times, Vincent Kompany was seen alongside his assistants Craig Bellamy and Rodyse Munienge on Tuesday evening at Westerlo’s clash against Genk – where Foster was the main agenda.

Only two years ago, Foster, then contracted to AS Monaco on loan at Cercle Brugge, came up against the Manchester City legend in a league match as he featured in his final season in professional football in the Belgian top-flight for Anderlecht.

The Bafana international has since emerged as one of the leading talents in the Pro League this season when he scored eight goals and registered three assists in 14 games between August and November 2022.

A bid in excess of €5-million was tabled to Westerlo for his services but it appears they are holding out for more as one of the most prized assets at present.

Head coach Jonas De Roeck has made it clear he would like to hold on to the player ‘until the end of the season’.

However, he acknowledged that a significantly increased offer from the Championship league leaders cans sway them into parting ways this month.

“Three years ago that was unthinkable,” De Roeck told GVA when asked about the Clarets’ recent bid

“The fact that there are now such teams interested in our players shows that a good job has been done here.”
