Broos praises Zwane. Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says the 4-0 victory over Sierra Leone will go some way in silencing the negativity around the national team.
Themba Zwane returned to the set-up following calls for his inclusion and scored twice in Bafana’s rampant win over their disjointed visitors on Saturday afternoon, with Mihlali Mayambela and Aubrey Modiba also getting on the score sheet.
Bafana will return to FNB Stadium on Tuesday to face Botswana in another friendly international.
“I am a happy coach today, not only because we won 4-nil, but also there is after our three last games I think the negative vision around Bafana Bafana was so big that we needed that today.
“And it’s not only the performance on the pitch but also the chances we have, the goals we scored, so we’ve won a lot of confidence again today and this was very important, and this was the goal before those two friendly games,” Broos told SABC Sport
“I hope and I hope that the team will do the same thing next week Tuesday.”
“It’s not enough that we are happy today, but we will be happy also Tuesday evening after the game against Botswana and I expect from the players the same mentality, the same performance, what they did today.”
“I will also mention I am not a coach who have special mentions for some players, but what Themba Zwane did today was great, maybe hopefully the missing link in our team, the guy who can keep the ball, the guy who can keep passes, the guy who can score.”
What also impressed Broos was the camaraderie within the Bafana squad, especially when captain and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams asked to be substituted so that Melusi Buthelezi gets to make his debut.
