A woman from Boipatong in the Vaal Triangle who claimed that her toddler was snatched from her back and kidnapped two weeks ago has been arrested.

The 32-year-old woman told police that she was walking home when three men driving a VW Polo grabbed her son Kutloano from her back before speeding off.

She was subsequently arrested and appeared in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court on Monday on charges of human trafficking, conspiracy to commit robbery and making false statements to the police.

According to police, the charges stem from allegations that on the 10th of November, the mother sold her child to unidentified individuals.

The whereabouts of two-year-old Kutloano Shalaba remain unknown.

The toddler was wearing brown pants, a white top and black takkies.

Police urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of the kidnapped child to come forward and contact the Branch commander, Captain Mokgoto, on 082 778 7937 or Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela on 079 695 1338.
