Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Supersport united striker Dino Ndlovu has revealed he is willing to join Kaizer Chiefs if an offer arrives.
According to Kick-Off Magazine, Dino Ndlovu is more than willing to sign a deal with Amakhosi before the Betway Premiership starts next month.
The 34-year-old was last at Sekaryaspor, who campaign in Turkish second-tier league, officially known as the TFF First League, where he did not have his contract renewed upon its expiry at the end of June.
Having played in countries such as Israel, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, China, and spent the better part of his career at different clubs in Turkey, the 34-year-old is not short on experience.
Add to that the fact he has eight Bafana Bafana caps to his name, as well as briefly represented the country at U23 level.
Ndlovu has since made a return to Mzansi shores, and speaking exclusively to KickOff, has declared his readiness to return to doing what he loves most: putting the ball in the back of the net.
“For now, I’m training with one of the local teams here ekasi, in Klerksdorp. I’m still playing. But I am yet to get something [an offer] that I feel I deserve. I had one in June from Turkey, but a move never materialised because of small details,” says Ndlovu.
“I had another one from Macedonia, it also never materialised. The numbers and everything was there, but it was just [because of] stupid things.
“There was another one from Libya. I spoke with the club, but I don’t know… their league starts next month, so the teams there are starting pre-season this week. So, maybe they might still come for me, or not. They just went MIA [missing in action].”
The pint-sized centre-forward also confirms there has been no approach from South Africa.
“Of course, I’m open to coming back to South Africa. That has never been a secret. I’m ready to come back home.
“But one of the things is that our club chairmen, whenever you are recommended by other agents or external representatives, they say, ‘Dino is expensive’ or, ‘We don’t have the budget for him’. How come you can know that even before speaking to me?
“You must understand, when you want something, you just have to say, ‘Dino, we don’t know the numbers [how much you were earning], but this is our project, this is what we want to achieve this season and beyond. With your experience, we think you can help our youngsters. This is the budget we have’.
“Then I can sit down with myself, with my agent, and come back to you and say, ‘Okay, what you are offering is not too much, make it two years instead of one’. Then it makes sense for me. We can engage on those things,” he explains.
Asked if he would be open to a move to Kaizer Chiefs, who are understood to be in the market for a striker, the former Qarabag man gave an emphatic answer.
“Who would say no to Chiefs? There is no player in the country who can say no. Even if that player is a fan of Mamelodi Sundowns or Orlando Pirates.
“We first followed Sundowns when they started dominating. When did they win the CAF Champions League? [2016]. So, around 2015, that’s when we started following them.
“But before that, it was Pirates, Chiefs and SuperSport United, you understand? In fact, leave SuperSport out, it was Pirates and Chiefs. Everyone in the country is either a fan of Pirates or Chiefs.
“You can ask any player. Even ‘Mshishi’ [Themba Zwane], before he joined Sundowns, he would have been open to joining Chiefs because of that reason.”
Ndlovu previously played for Sundowns, between 2009 and 2011, but never really established himself at the club, instead being sent on loan to Bloemfontein Celtic, SuperSport United and Mpumalanga Black Aces respectively.
