Kaizer Chiefs in-form striker Ashley du Preez is one of the top players at Amakhosi and his position at the Glamour boys commands an impressive salary that places him among the top earners.
Stellenbosch-born football star Ashley du Preez has really made a name for himself at Kaizer Chiefs and that is reflected in his salary at the club.
Ashley Du Preez remain as one of the highest paid players at the club now after the departure of Keagan Dolly.
According to The South African, Ashley du Preez reportedly earns a salary of R290 000 per month. He is represented by Forwardzone Football Limited agents.
The former Stellies attacker joined Kaizer Chiefs in the winter transfer window of 2022.
Du Preez led Amakhosi in PSL scoring in his rookie season, with six goals and four assists.
Last season, he was anticipated to continue, but a series of injuries hampered his progress.
Despite this, he managed to play 27 games in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing two assists.
Du Preez can play efficiently in all attacking positions; his flexibility has drawn the attention of coaches and, presumably, scouts at Portugal’s Vitoria SC, who compete in the Primeira Liga and are said to be keen on the striker at the moment.
It was rumoured in early June that the European club was contemplating an R25 million bid for the Amakhosi fan favourite.
CHIEFS DEPARTURE LOOMING?
Moves overseas are usually appealing due of the packages involved; this is why many players seek for an exit when they get the opportunity.
However, the PSL is steadily improving and is now one of Africa’s strongest leagues. Chiefs pay handsomely, and with the improvements taking place this summer, they may once again reclaim their spot at the top of South African football.
Du Preez might want to stay in Mzansi and embrace the rewards of helping the Glamour Boys succeed.
According to TransferMarkt, Du Preez is worth €1 million, which is almost R19 million.
Given his fitness concerns throughout the 2023/24 season, this is a reasonable price for the 26-year-old.
There is no question that when healthy, du Preez has the skillset to prosper in Europe, but with him turning 27 recently, this is likely to be his final chance to play overseas.
