Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse has surfaced at Motsepe Foundation Championship club La Masia.
This website spotted Arendse at training at La Masia’s training base at Panorama Sports Club on Tuesday under the watchful eye of new coach Ashwin Sutton.
Sutton has taken over at La Masia following a horrible run of results in recent games which included four league defeats plus another loss in the Nedbank Cup.
Sutton is amongst the most experienced coaches in the league having previously worked with All Nations, Winners Park, Mabopane Young Masters, FC AK, Maritzburg United, Hanover Park, Batau, United FC, Mbombela United, Blackburn Rovers, Durban Stars, Platinum City Rovers, and African Warriors in the first division.
As he works his way in his first week at training, Sutton has had Arendse arriving who could be added to provide experience at the back.
Arendse – who turns 40 next year – has kept his body frame in good shape and questions will only be around his match fitness.
His last appearance was at Sundowns was in August 2020 before he then left three months upon the expiry of his contract which had been extended due to Covid.
Also at training on Tuesday afternoon was John Tshabalala who was most recently with Platinum City Rovers.
La Masia are also set to make further reinforcements before the close of this window which will include another vastly experienced campaigner who has also previously played for Mamelodi Sundowns.
