A Family from Limpopo is still in shock after a gogo (76) was butchered allegedly by her 43-year-old boyfriend.

The horrific attack happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, 8 February, in Rwanda Village in Letsitele, Mopani district.

Annah Malatji was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds to her back and upper body.

Her heartbroken daughter, Beatrice Malatji, said she was relaxing at a local tavern when neighbours rushed in with terrifying news.

“They told me to hurry home. As I got to the gate, I found him there insulting my mother. When I went inside the yard, I found her lying in blood.”

“She had stab wounds on her upper body. It looks like he stabbed her in the heart during an argument.”

Beatrice told the Daily Sun her mum had reported the suspect to the police six times before she was killed.

“My mother opened cases against him six times and even had a protection order, but he never stopped,” she said.

The family claimed the suspect had a long history of abusing the elderly woman and ignored the protection order.

Now the grieving daughter fears for her life and the safety of other witnesses.

“We are scared of this man. If he gets bail, he might come after us. The court must not release him,” she said.

Adding to their pain, the struggling family said they don’t even have enough money to bury their beloved gogo.

“We don’t have food or money for a coffin. We are asking kind-hearted South Africans to please help us give her a dignified funeral,” she said.

Police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed the incident.
