Mamelodi Sundowns star has opened up about his time spent at English Premier League side Arsenal FC.
Mamelodi Sundowns new signing Marcelo Allende has explained the reasoning behind his decision to join the Brazilians over Arsenal.
The diminutve midfielder, who’s a full Chilean international, was close to joining English Premier League side Arsenal.
He however opted for a move to South Africa and here are his reasons behind the rather surprise decision.
“Mamelodi Sundowns is the best team in Africa.
“I want to win trophies and that is why I came here.” – Marcelo Allende said as quoted by IOL.
“Obviously when I was there, as much as I trained with Arsenal, but I never actually played a single game with them and that is something that happened in my career.
“With the decision to come this side it’s difficult to differentiate between Arsenal and Mamelodi Sundowns because we all know that the Premier League has high intensity and speed.
“It helps me this side because we know globally African players are among the fastest, they are talented. So by being here, I can actually take my game to the next level.”
