The agent of Orlando Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango has confirmed that club chairman Irvin Khoza has given him his blessing to take the player elsewhere if he does not form part of the technical team’s plans for next season.
Mhango has had a difficult season with the Buccaneers, having to watch a lot of their games from the bench, even after his star performances for Malawi at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon earlier this year.
In fact, after he stood head and shoulders above his Malawian teammates at the continental showpiece, there was this belief his season would finally kickoff, but he has not quite convinced the technical team to give him a regular shout in the starting line-up.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic and Bidvest Wits player, who joined Pirates in 2019, has made 10 appearances in all competitions and has not found the back of the net. He has registered one assist.
As reported by the Siya crew a few months ago, Pirates exercised the option in his contract, but the club are open to him leaving, if the deal is good for both parties.
“I’ve met with the chairman (Khoza) and a lot will depend on whether the technical staff see Gaba as part of the plans for the new season.
If not, and we should know very soon, then the chairman has given me his blessing to look for another club for Gaba, as long as the deal is a fair deal for both Pirates and the player, then I think we can probably do something,” Makaab told the Siya crew.
“He is quite happy to stay at Orlando Pirates, if that’s the call from the technical staff. But he is also happy to look at a new opportunity if he is not part of the technical staff’s plans going forward.”
