However, while at Team of Choice, things didn’t turn out well. In the 13 games he oversaw, he won two, drew five and lost six. These poor results led to his dismissal in November and the club brought back Fadlu Davids.

The 52-year-old recently returned to Royal AM and believes he has done enough previously to prove that he is a good coach.

“I don’t think I’ve got anything to prove to anyone,” he told the media during the Nedbank Cup press conference.

“It’s football, sometimes it goes the way you want.

“I was at Celtics at first, I strongly believe I did well regardless of challenges that Celtics had but I managed to do well.

“Regardless of the situation that Celtics was in but there was no time where Celtics would fight relegation. So, that alone, I don’t doubt myself as a coach.

“I strongly believe that I’m one of the good coaches because working under those difficult conditions that we were under at Celtics and manage the team each and every time to do well.

“We even got to the finals, two finals. Unfortunately, we did not win.

“I think it was Nedbank Cup, we played Sundowns and the other one it was against Pirates, I think it was MTN8.

“Plus, we took the team to Africa, so, I don’t have anything to prove.”

Maduka was in the stands when Royal AM beat Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership on Sunday because he hadn’t received a work permit.

He’ll be on the bench when his side takes on Cape Town City in the Nedbank Cup round of 32 on Sunday at 18:00. The match will take place at the Cape Town Stadium.
