Benni McCarthy is flying the South African flag high at Manchester United – and fans of both the English Premier League team and the local soccer star are beaming with pride.
The former Bafana Bafana player – who is the coach of the first team – was even spotted on television screens during the “Red Devils” match against Arsenal.
Manchester United won the match 3-1.
After a dismal performance this season, Manchester United is seemingly making a comeback, and it’s all thanks to Benni McCarthy, claim fans.
The 44-year-old star joined the team as coach in July and specialises in coaching attacking plays and positioning.
He’s previously coached the likes of local teams like Cape Town City and AmaZulu.
And it seems Benni McCarthy is helping the boys of Man U regain their winning streak.
Last month, the team beat Liverpool, Southampton, and Leicester City under the helm of the former Orlando Pirates star.
During Sunday night’s match, Benni was spotted patting player Scott McTominay on the back for his stellar work on the pitch.
Following the sighting of Benni McCarthy, SA soccer fans shared their pride and joy over the local star’s work at Manchester United.
