Emergency medical services were rushed to the scene, but he was tragically declared dead upon arrival.

Since the incident, Limpopo authorities have arrested three suspects aged between 17 and 23 in connection with his murder.

Tears and Tributes at the Final Farewell

The funeral service saw hundreds of mourners, fellow content creators, and local leaders gather to pay their final respects. The atmosphere was heavy with grief as his hearse arrived from his family home in Malamulele B Extension.

Speakers at the service described him as a unique, vibrant, and multi-talented individual who utilized his smartphone and a big dream to elevate village life into relatable national comedy.

As the last-born of four siblings, Mafenya was described by his elder brother, Khutso, as a special child who showed signs of natural comedic brilliance from a very young age.

Beyond his burgeoning career as an entertainer and master of ceremonies, Mafenya was a devoted father. His family highlighted that one of the most painful realities of his passing is that his three-year-old son will now have to navigate life without a father.

A Lasting Legacy in Township Comedy

Skeem Mafenya built a massive online following by filming short, humorous skits depicting the everyday experiences of township and village life.

His unique personality provided comfort and joy to his audience, proving to other young Limpopo creators that success could be built from the ground up.

Earlier in the week, a solemn candlelight vigil was held at the exact spot where he took his last breath, showcasing the profound impact he had on local residents.

Though his voice has been silenced, his viral skits and the happiness he leaves behind ensure that his legacy will live on forever.
