Members of the Gauteng Traffic Police and the Gauteng Traffic Wardens Essential Infrastructure Task Team (CC), in collaboration with SAPS Crime Intelligence, conducted a targeted intelligence-driven operation following information about a syndicate involved in the stripping of stolen Volkswagen Polo vehicles.

Operational members proceeded to Tjovitjo Informal Settlement in Devland, where they located a VW Polo that had been reported stolen and was in the process of being stripped.

Members immediately intervened and two suspects were arrested at the scene.

During other operations, members also recovered several stolen vehicles across Central Johannesburg:

• A VW Polo Vivo reported stolen in Edenvale was recovered at Tonki Street, Emdeni, Soweto, partially stripped.

• A vehicle reported stolen in the Newlands area was recovered in Doornkop Informal Settlement, Extension 4.

• A Toyota Vitz that had been reported hijacked in Eldorado Park was recovered in the Nancefield Industrial Area, stripped.

• Another stolen VW Polo was recovered in Dobsonville Extension 2.
