The brutally killed Sinah Mothapo was described as “Mama Rama City” as her life was remembered.

Sinah, a Rama City deputy chairwoman, was killed on Monday, 2 March 2026. The family said she was shot dead with at least five bullets at her home after dropping off her kids.
Sinah’s brother-in-law, Lucas Ratema, said: “The family is still traumatised and pleading for justice.”
Friend Victoria Moeng (41) said: “She was like a mother. We called her the mother of Rama City. She was a shoulder to lean on.”
Rama City chairman Tshepo Manganyi said this was an unfortunate situation.
He noted that on 10 March 2025, another chairman, Mpho Nthite, was killed.
“It has triggered fear. We are committed to advancing the issue of unity. I call on everyone that Rama City needs to become a place that is united,” he said.
Charles Davis, from the development company, added: “This is sad. It’s the second killing in one year. It will be difficult to fill Sinah’s shoes.”
ANC Women’s League organiser Patricia Mokwala paid tribute.

“A big tree has fallen. She was a perfectionist. Remember her with good stories she has created,” she said.
Sinah will be laid to rest at Rama City cemetery on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
