After qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup group stages, Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC are in a position to make millions that could be reinvested into their respective clubs.

Amakhosi booked their spot in the group stages after beating Angolan club Kabuscorp and then DRC outfit AS Simba in the preliminary stages and now have an opportunity to get themselves closer to continental glory.

Stellenbosch also went through to the group stages and were determined to go further than the semi-finals this time around, having gone that far in the last edition. Unfortunately, things did not go their way.

Kaizer Chiefs have been away from continental football for a while, last featuring in 2021 when they went all the way to the CAF Champions League final, only to lose to Pitso Mosimane’s then Al Ahly side.

Going into the group stages, Amakhosi and Stellies are guaranteed at least $400 000 (R6.8 million). This is the amount of money clubs, that finish third and fourth in the group stages get.

Should they finish in one of the top two positions and progress to the quarter-finals, the two South African clubs will be in a position to get $550 000 (R8.8 million).
