Former Ukhozi FM presenter Mandla “Njinji” Magwaza’s cause of death has been revealed.

Njinji (42) was laid to rest in Inanda, north of Durban on Saturday, 31 January after he passed away on Saturday, 24 January, due to complications with his right hand.

It was revealed that he passed away while he was set to undergo an operation on his right arm on Tuesday, 27 January.

His funeral service was attended by Ukhozi FM presenters, former Ukhozi FM presenters, musicians and actors.

The funeral service turned out to be a celebration of his life with musicians, presenters singing and dancing to bid farewell to him at Etafuleni Sport Ground.

Njinji’s close friend, Sihle “DJ Mngadi”, Mngadi revealed his cause of death and mentioned that they tried their best to heal him.

“He had a complication on his whole right arm to the fingers, and he was struggling to use even his fingers for a short time.”

“Sometimes he was stubborn and refused to get help from doctors. As his friend we were teaming up to ask him to get help, he agreed to get help from the doctors.

“He was still getting treatment from the doctors, and he passed away on Saturday, 24 January.”

“He was booked in the theatre for the surgery operation to his arm, but God didn’t allow that and because it is God’s will, we can’t say anything” he said.

The funerla was also attended by Ukhozi FM business manager Lwazi Mthabela and presenters Dudu “Lady D” Khoza, Zama Mseleku, Mroza Buthelezi, Nkosinathi “Dr Love” Mshengu and many more.

Former Ukhozi FM presenters Linda ‘Mr Magic’ Sibiya and Ngizwe Mchunu, along with former Ukhozi FM content producer Sma Mathibeli and ex-programmes manager Zandile Tembe, were also present at the funeral.

Top musicians Jumbo, Dumi Mkokstad, Khuzani Mpungose also attended the funeral service.

Njinji started his career on Ukhozi FM when he was a technical producer for the breakfast show presented by Linda and Sbonga Mngadi Zungu.

He later joined the midmorning show Jabulujule, hosted by Lady D, where he gained popularity.

Lady D often referred to him by his clan name, ‘Njinji,’ and would hand him the microphone to speak. It was during this show that he became widely known as Njinji.

Following this, Ukhozi FM provided him with more opportunities to be a voice for the station, eventually entrusting him with his own shows.

Lady D’s loyal listeners, known as amaShiellas, also attended Njinji’s funeral to bid him a final farewell.
