Orlando Pirates midfielder Makhehlene Makhaula has shared that he will only consider retiring after winning a league title in his football career.
Speaking to media on Wednesday afternoon at the club’s press conference at Rand Stadium, the 36-year-old midfielder told journalists that the young players around him keep pushing him to do better which motivates him to keep on going.

“I think the young guys always want to challenge me each and every time even during training and then you know when I try to take things easy, they come hard on me always,” shared the experienced footballer.
Makhaula said the young players’ speed and intensity has pushed his limits. However, he said that his experience gives him an edge over his youthful teammates
“So, I just have to keep myself fit and eat well so that you can see me all the time that I’m still running. So, they motivate me too much.”
“So I’m learning a lot from them and they’re also learning a lot from me,” Makhaula said about the motivation from the young players.
Regarding retirement, he said he’d only consider that after winning a league title.
“Only God knows. I’m always praying because my wish is the league. We will see maybe this season it can happen but hopefully,” he said.
The Randfontein-born midfielder said winning the league title would be a dream come true and he will have something to tell his kids.
“It will be a dream come true because you go to other teams they don’t even try to fight for the league or something but with the big teams you must be with the big teams because big teams are always fighting for something.”
“Not that I am disrespecting any team but big teams are always fighting for everything”
