Tragedy strikes as 13 pupils have now died in a horrific scholar transport crash in Vanderbijlpark, Vaal.
The death toll jumped from 11 to 13 after two more pupils lost their lives following the devastating accident.

Gauteng Department of Education confirmed that 13 pupils died in the tragic scholar transport incident that occurred on Monday, 19 January 2026, in Vanderbijlpark.
According to the department, 12 pupil fatalities had been confirmed at the time the earlier statement was issued.
One more pupil has since died from injuries, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths to 13.
According to department spokesman Steve Mabona, all information remains preliminary as investigations continue.
