Linomtha Skeyi whose body was found on Christmas Day and a 21-year-old man later handed himself over to cops.
This happened at the Joza Police Station in Makhanda, Eastern Cape, on Friday, 9 January 2026, following the murder of Linomtha Skeyi (16) on Christmas Day 2025.

Eastern Cape police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa said the arrest follows Linomtha’s murder.
Her body was found in an open veld behind the Department of Social Development building at Joza in Makhanda.
“She was reported missing on Christmas Eve, 24 December 2025 and during a search-and-rescue operation, her body was discovered on Christmas Day, 25 December,” said Mawisa.
She said motive for the murder is unclear at this stage but forms part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect is due to appear in the Makhanda Magistrates Court soon.
Daily Sun reported that Linomtha was found with multiple stab wounds in Makhanda on Christmas Day.
According to the police, she was returning from a traditional initiation homecoming celebration when she was reprimanded by one of the elders on December 24, 2025 at 10pm.

She allegedly left her home after the tongue-lashing. Her body was recovered at 9.20am by members of the public during a search-and-rescue operation.
