Martha was found brutally killed and burnt inside an abandoned shack in Kekana Gardens on Friday, 24 October.

Mourners comforted the family with a word of God.

The family asked Martha to fight for herself from the grave.

Her grandmother Maria Mabusela said: “I’m begging you for one thing, please look for the person who killed you. I trust you. Fight for yourself. Martha, you are no longer with us.”

Martha’s grandfather Wilson Mbewe said: “We are in great pain.”

Thembisile Maphosa from New Living Christian Church, who was Martha’s Sunday school teacher, described her as someone who had a great smile.

Martha’s former deputy principal at Hammanskraal Secondary School, Millicent Madileng, said: “Martha naturally had challenges. It was easy for me to understand her because I’m from a family with kids who are similar to Martha. That’s why we had this special bond. I understood her better.”

She said she understood her more than any other teacher in school.

“She was just like my kid. Because she felt the humiliation in class, the office was a better place. That’s why I could understand why she would come five times in a day because she needed some sort of healing,” she said.

A neighbour Zandile Mosia said: “Martha was a great worshipper with other kids at home.”

Family friend Maggy Manganye appealed to the family, especially to Martha’s mum, Evelyn Moyo, to look unto God.

“Please, Evelyn, don’t get angry but have pain so that God can heal you,” she said.

Athalia Mmushi (15), a Grade 8 pupil at Hammanskraal Secondary School, said: “Martha wanted if she was happy, everyone must be happy. May her soul rest in peace.”

Hammanskraal Secondary School’s school governing body representative Velly Ledwaba said: “We are in great pain. Be comforted. Enough is enough. This is high time we stand up and fight for these kids’ justice.”

Hammanskraal CPF chairman Reward Shadung said: “We are heartbroken. Hammanskraal rape cases are growing up. Why is that shack still standing? We want these abandoned shacks to be removed.”

Gauteng Police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said: “As per the case number you provided, that is a murder case that’s still under investigation, and no one has been arrested.”
