The woman is alleged to be behind the fatal shooting of the school’s principal, Nozibele Tabu (58), and administrative assistant, Nobantu Njomboni (55).
Both women were attacked inside the administration block shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Witnesses described scenes of chaos as teachers and learners scattered for safety when gunshots rang out across the school premises.
The motive behind the attack has not yet been confirmed, but early reports suggest that the killings may have been linked to a personal or internal dispute involving the suspect and one of the victims.
Police continue to investigate all angles, including possible connections to administrative matters at the school.
For many in the community, the loss of the principal and the admin assistant has been devastating.
Parents, teachers, and education authorities have expressed shock, describing both women as hardworking and deeply committed to the development of learners at Inxiweni Primary.
Principal Tabu was admired for her leadership and dedication, while Njomboni was known as the warm, welcoming face of the school office—someone who always made time for learners and parents.
Their sudden and violent deaths have left a void that will not easily be filled.
The Gauteng Department of Education has deployed trauma counsellors to the school to support learners and staff who witnessed or were affected by the incident.
Security has also been tightened while the investigation continues.
As the suspect prepares to make her first court appearance, residents of Tembisa are calling for justice and for stronger protective measures in schools.
