The family claims they turned towards a private laboratory to speedily get DNA results of the dead, Martha Moyo (19).

The family said they were not prepared to wait for over a month waiting for DNA results, especially from the government’s forensics pathologist.

Martha was found murdered and burnt inside an abandoned shack on Friday, 24 October 2025, in Kekana Gardens, Tshwane.

Daily Sun published the story on 29 October 2025, headlined: “Mum’s shock: Why kill my daughter like this?”

Martha’s mum, Evelyn Moyo (37), told Daily Sun they turned into a private laboratory to speed up the process.

“The killing of my daughter continues to traumatise us. Getting DNA results will bring a bit of closure as it was hard not knowing whether it was my daughter I saw badly burnt, or not,” she said.

The grieving mum said when she received the results on Friday, 14 November, she felt like the incident had just happened.

“Now, I know it’s my daughter who was burnt to death,” she said.

She said she was still hoping she’d see her daughter knock on the door.

Evelyn said they paid R4 165 to a private laboratory, and it took them five days to get results.

“I did this to relieve the pain,” she said.

She said she wanted her daughter’s killers to come and tell her why they did this and what did she do to them.

She identified her daughter with her foot as it was the same as hers.

Martha’s uncle George Moyo (30) said: “We are in great pain. I still don’t believe Martha is gone.”

Martha will be laid to rest on Saturday, 22 November, at Kekana Gardens Cemetery.
