Cape Town City star Keagan Dolly has opened up about the pressure he carried daily after a rumour spread that he was earning R1.4 million a month during his spell at Kaizer Chiefs.
Dolly returned to South Africa in 2021 after leaving French side Montpellier to join the Glamour Boys, a move that sent a wave of excitement through Amakhosi fans.

With his pedigree and European experience, expectations shot through the roof, fuelled even further by reports suggesting he would be pocketing over a million rand at the Naturena giants.
But injuries derailed his momentum, and Dolly struggled to deliver consistently for Chiefs.
His time at the club eventually came to an end in July 2024, before resurfacing at TS Galaxy a few months later.
Speaking exclusively to KICK OFF in the October edition of the magazine, Dolly maintained that he enjoyed his stay at Chiefs, however, he revealed how the R1.4 million salary rumour weighed heavily on him.
“That over R1 million pay issue made people expect me to showcase that I earn a lot of money for a reason every day,” Dolly said.
“Your teammates at training, you need to showcase that you are a R1.4 million player every day.”
“So, you need to handle yourself and carry yourself in a certain way, and the only thing that I felt bad about was that no one actually rectified the rumours.
“But at the end of the day, it’s social media, people talk, and I know the truth and I spoke about it many times, and what can I say?
“It was not close, not even! I don’t even…personally, I don’t think there’s a player in the history of PSL that earned close to that.”
“Probably a year, not a month,” explained the former Mamelodi Sundowns star.

“That’s what I say, personally. But the figures weren’t close to that. It was good money, it was decent money that myself, my family and I were happy to sign with Chiefs,” he added.
“Chiefs treated me well, and I had a good three years with them, even though I didn’t win any competition or play as much as I would have wanted to. But there’s no bad blood between me and Chiefs.”
