A crash between a taxi and a bus in the Durban Central Area on Thursday morning resulted in 13 people being injured.
The crash took place at 6:30am on Umgeni Road, near Adrian Road, and was attended to by Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics and the eThekwini Fire Department.

According to ALS Paramedics operations manager, Garrith Jamieson, paramedics arrived on scene to chaos.
“On arrival, paramedics found chaos as they found that a taxi had collided into the rear of a bus leaving the front seat passengers entrapped in the wreckage.”
“Immediately, the eThekwini Fire Department was dispatched to assist,” Jamieson said.
“Multiple other patients were found on scene, and more ALS Paramedics Ambulances as well paramedics, were dispatched to assist.”
While the eThekwini Fire Department used the jaws of life to cut the passengers free, ALS paramedics worked to stabilise the injured in the vehicle.

A total of 13 people had sustained various injuries and once all were stabilised on scene, were transported to various Durban hospitals for further care, Jamieson said.
“At this stage, the events leading up to the crash are unknown, however, police and Metro Police were in attendance and will be investigating further.”
