A horrific accident occurred on Monday around 12:00 midday along the R574 road in Tafelkop, Elias Motsoaledi Municipality, Sekhukhune District.
Preliminary reports indicate that two sedans collided head-on, resulting in fatalities and serious injuries.

The accident claimed the lives of five passengers from one car, including three adults, an infant, and one child, all from a neighboring country.
Drivers from both cars were injured and transported to a nearby hospital.
The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye, expressed her sadness over the incident.
“On behalf of the Department, I wish to convey sincere condolences to the families of those who perished and wish a speedy recovery to the injured passengers.”
“I continue urging drivers to be patient on the road and drive with caution in order to avoid unnecessary crashes,” says MEC Mathye.
The exact cause of the accident will be determined once investigations are completed.

The department will continue to update the public on the situation.
In the meantime, the priority remains deploying traffic officers as part of visible policing to ensure road safety.
