Lerato Queen Selotole who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend has rocked Limpopo’s media community.

This after 24-year-old radio presenter Lerato Queen Selotole was found murdered, allegedly by her lover (24), at Ga-Patamedi, Block 5, Mokwakwaila.

The horrific incident occurred on Sunday, 17 August.

Lerato worked at one of the province’s leading stations, Perfect Radio, hosting the Drive-Show. Colleagues described her as passionate and dedicated, always giving her all on air.

Her murder has left her family feeling hopeless and helpless.

David Selotole, Lerato’s uncle and family spokesperson, told Daily Sun that the suspect had a history of allegedly abusing and stalking her.

“He stabbed her on her back a few months ago, he was abusive. We got him arrested but he was released. We are hopeless and helpless, we don’t know how to feel,” claimed uncle.

Lerato and the suspect shared a three-year-old baby boy, intensifying the family’s grief.

He said the family is calling for justice, claiming that the suspect’s earlier release contributed to her death.

“Our justice system has failed us. If the suspect was never released, we would not be here today. We want him to face severe consequences. We fear he’ll harm others if released,” he said.

Perfect Radio Station Manager, Raymond Selowa, remembered Lerato as driven and determined:

“She was being abused. The suspect seemed jealous of her achievements. He never allowed her to participate in community engagement at our station. Lerato joined us after graduating from the University of Venda.”

Police in Limpopo reported that Lerato’s body was found with severe scratches on her face and body.

Police spokeswoman Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said:

“It is reported that the police were alerted to a murder at Ga-Patamedi Block 5. Upon arrival, they discovered a female victim lying on the floor inside a room covered with a blanket with scratch marks on the face and neck.”

Mashaba said the victim and suspect had an altercation that turned physical, with the suspect’s brother allegedly interfering before leaving them.

“Later on, he found the victim lying on the floor,” said Mashaba.

The suspect has been arrested and has appeare in court on Tuesday, 19 August.
