Matric learner fatally stabbed in fight with another learner at Thomas Nhlabathi Secondary in Mpumalanga.
A 19-year-old learner has been arrested and charged with the murder of a fellow learner.
The incident occurred outside Thomas Nhlabathi Secondary School in Embalenhle, Secunda, in Mpumalanga on Thursday, 27 February.
It’s alleged that the suspect and the 18-year-old victim, who was a matric pupil, engaged in a fight outside the school premises, whereby the victim was stabbed multiple times and suffered injuries to his chest.
The grade 12 pupil succumbed to his injuries while he was rushed to a nearby clinic.
Police spokesman Brigadier Donald Mdluli said the reason behind the fight is still unknown.
“The suspect was detained, and a knife, believed to have been used during the incident, has been confiscated. It will form part of the investigation,” he said.
The suspect will appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, the Mpumalanga Department of Education has requested the school to provide a detailed report on the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.
