His mum, Zukiswa Gqibathole from Snake Park in Alra Park, was worried that night, sleeping without knowing her son’s whereabouts.

She went to the Nigel Police Station to report him as missing, only to find out that her stepson knew where her son was all along.

The suspect was caught red-handed dragging the body in the street.

When he noticed that he had been seen, he dumped the body and fled.

He was arrested later that day, and he’s facing murder charges. The body of Nkosinathi was covered in soil and burned.

“The suspect tried to burn the body but failed. He then tried to bury it, but because our area has rocks, he couldn’t dig deeper, and by the looks of it, he tried to dispose of it further when he was caught,” said community leader and GBV activist Sinethemba Shabalala.

His mum, Zukiswa, said her son will fight for himself.

“He’s going to jail where he belongs. I never thought someone I trusted could do this to me, killing his brother,” she said.

Spokeswoman for Gauteng Police, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, said the body was decomposed at the time it was found in the street, and the suspect is facing a murder charge.
