Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou has not enjoyed a lot of game time since joining the Amakhosi at the start of the season.
Matlou joined Chiefs from Swallows on a two-year deal and has only made a handful of appearances for his new club.
Competing for a spot in a midfield that includes the likes of fellow new signings Yusuf Maart, Siyethemba Sithebe, Cole Alexander and the recently departed Njabulo Blom, has seen Matlou finding first team action hard to come by.
Even young Samkelo Zwane seems to have found more favour and has started receiving more action in the Chiefs midfield than his senior counterpart.
But while his feet are not receiving the desired action on the field, his nails and toe nails do not seem devoid of that. In a tweet video posted by user @lusandakluthuli, Matlou’s newly painted nails are reveal by Chiefs teammate and fellow off season signing Zitha Kwinika.
The video was initially posted on Kwinika’s Instagram story and it shows that the midfielder is spotting the colour black on his nails.
Furthermore, the nails have the number 22 on them, which happens to be the jersey number that Matlou wears for Chiefs. He is certainly not the first player in the DStv Premiership to spot painted nails, with Mamelodi Sundowns star Lebogang Maboe also known to be a fan of what is fast becoming a trend.
The Bafana Bafana international has also posted a picture of his nails spotting different colours and patterns in the past.
Funny enough, Maboe has recently been linked with a move to Chiefs, and should that materialise, he will know that he has at least one new teammate that he shares something in common with.
