Former striker David Radebe has advised under-fire Kaizer Chiefs player Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana on how to silence his critics as he adapts to life in the DStv Premiership.

The Burundian is the latest Chiefs player to face jeers from the club’s supporters after Radebe and Kingston Nkhatha.

“What he must do now is continue doing his job and try to minimise his mistakes,” Radebe tells KickOff.

“He will need all the support from his teammates as well because the supporters will only support you if you do the right thing.

“But if you fail to do your job that’s where they will have a problem with you.

“In my case, I got used to the booing because they only did it when I missed chances, but the next game they wanted me back in the team, and our relationship was on and off.

“But in the case of Bimenyimana, it’s going to be difficult because he is not from here.

“Remember if you are a foreigner you need to be better than our local strikers.

“The Chiefs supporters loved the way I used to outpace the defenders, but my problem was missing chances.

“But as for my work rate, they were impressed. I was a hard worker but also hasty. That’s what was letting me down at Kaizer Chiefs.

“Imagine running with the ball from the halfway line and by the time you reach the 18-area box you are out of breath, and you lose balance.

“But personally, to be honest, I’m not happy with Bimenyimana, remember this guy he is a foreigner.

“His touches leave a lot to be desired, and Christian Saile needs a strike-partner who can be able to hold balls so he can feed off him, and Bimenyimana is not that type of target man.

“At least if Bimenyimana was putting opponents under pressure each time he was in possession of the ball.

“We have a lot of local strikers like Bimenyimana in the ABC Motsepe League, I don’t understand why we had to import semi-skilled labour when we have a lot of them here.”
