Kaizer Chiefs have suffered an injury blow, with winger Ashley Du Preez ruled out for today’s league game against Richards Bay.
Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane confirmed the setback on Saturday morning prior the game.
The 25-year-old footballer landed awkwardly against Orlando Pirates last weekend during the DStv Premiership Soweto Derby clash.
Kaizer Chiefs is scheduled to play against the Natal Rich Boyz at King Zwelithini Stadium at 15:30.
Zwane has since provided an injury update on the Bafana Bafana international, Du Preez.
“It’s unfortunate that week in and week out we lose key players,” Zwane told the club’s media department.
“From last week’s starting XI we will be without Ash [Du Preez], who landed awkwardly against Pirates.
“He has not fully recovered.”
Du Preez has played 21 games across all competitions for Amakhosi this campaign.
In the process, he has managed to score five goals and weighed in with two assists.
However, ‘10111’, as he is popularly known within the football circles reckons that the players available will be able to get the job done in the absence of Du Preez.
He went on to state that they will do everything in their power to keep the players level-headed after their important win over arch-rivals Pirates.
“We try to keep everyone on the same level of thinking in terms of being humble, keeping our feet on the ground and always remembering that there is a lot at stake and a lot to play for,” he added.
“But what is key for you after playing such a big game, is how you show your quality as a club.
“We must make sure how important it is to have the same spirit and attitude towards every game we play.”
