Kaizer Chiefs will need to relinquish a lot of key players as they continue a massive rebuild. As many as seven senior players could be on the way out of Naturena at the end of this season.

In an attempt to free up some space on the wage bill and freshen up the group, Chiefs management will part ways with a clutch of experienced players.

Eric Mathoho

Club legend Eric “Tower” Mathoho will not be offered a new contract when his current deal expires in June.

Khama Billiat

Khama Billiat hasn’t had the best of times with the Glamour Boys, and won’t be offered new terms either.

He’s currently recovering from a long-term injury. A season to forget for the legendary Zimbabwean wide man.

Cole Alexander

Cole Alexander could link up with former manager Gavin Hunt at SuperSport next season too.

He hasn’t been a regular starter under Arthur Zwane and a move away from Naturena is the only option for the experienced midfielder.

Phathutshedzo Nange

Another player who is clearly not in the plans of Arthur Zwane is Phathutshedzo Nange. The Limpopo born midfielder has been linked with a move to SuperSport United at the end of the season.

Itumeleng Khune

Itumeleng Khune could also be on his way out. The 35-year-old’s contract is expiring in June, but there are whispers he could extend those terms on reduced wages.

Longer term, Chiefs are adamant that they want Khune to become part of their coaching framework.
