Orlando Pirates striker Ndumiso Mabena says the Buccaneers are out to end a run of four consecutive losses to Amakhosi when the Soweto gaints meet on Saturday.

Although Pirates go into derby in better form, with four wins from their last five DStv Premiership encounters, The Buccaneers are also aware that history favours their opponents, who have managed to topple Pirates in the last four consecutive meetings between the teams.

“We’re happy with a with the results we’ve been gettin – I think it’s another boost for us going into this game, but we know very well that they have won four derbies in a row,” Mabena said.

“We wouldn’t want it to be a fifth one, we want to break that record as well, so there is a lot at stake. It’s going to be a very difficult game for us.

“We’ll be playing for pride, for our fans, families and Orlando Pirates as a family.”

Meanwhile Amakhosi have a chance to make it five wins from five.

Although the lost their last outing against Golden Arrows, Zwane’s side will draw inspiration  from their last meeting with the Buccaneers in which Amakhosi had just lost to AmaZulu prior to the derby.

The clash will be played at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
