Motsepe Foundation Championship clash between Polokwane City and All Stars was no short of drama at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.

Officials and benches from both these PSL clubs had to be separated from what could have turned physically ugly.

This comes as the visitors raised their concerns on a controversy that occurred during the referee’s optional time. The score was 1-1 with a Polokwane goal scored by Lebohang Nkaki and Promise Mkhuma for All Stars.

Thereafter, All Stars scored what looked like a winner but while their players lined up to celebrate, the referee ruled the goal to be offside. Polokwane quickly restarted play and went on to score a winner via Simon Ramabu.

All hell broke loose when the All Stars bench confronted the match officials and a physical tussle between the two benches erupted.

It took about five to seven minutes before action resumed, but that was not the end of it.

All Stars once again felt hard done by a few moments later when what they say was a clear penalty was given as a free kick outside the 18-yard box.

“I don’t like what happened towards the end of the game. First we got a penalty, but they didn’t give the penalty. After that there is no control of the game.

“But you could see for the whole game, they were getting corners that were not corners. They got fouls that were not fouls so it’s really not fair,” lamented All Stars coach Sinethemba Badela.

“But what must we do? We have to work a bit harder and if I talk I will be in big trouble.”

“It first started with the opposition not allowing our analyst to record the game so already it tells you one thing that must happen.”

“Of course it is [discouraging]. You want the game to be fair. But it’s not the first time something like this has happened here. So the league needs to do something about it but if you come here and you get anything then you are very lucky.”
