Mamelodi Sundowns made it two wins out of two in the CAF Champions League and 14 on the trot in all competitions after beating Coton Sport 3-1 on Friday.
Sundowns got off to the perfect start after Cassius Mailula pounced on an error from the home defence to make it 1-0 inside the first 10 minutes.
Just two minutes later, Tapelo Morena made it 2-0 following an assist by Mailula, with Khuliso Mudau thought to have pushed the ball over the line but it was given to Morena.
Coton Sport came close to getting onto the scoresheet but only hit the bar in the 19th minute.
Teboho Mokoena almost made it 3-0 with a thunderous long-range effort but the Coton Sport goalkeeper pushed the ball over the bar.
The home side pulled one back in the 30th minute when Patient Wassou finished a quick counter with a placed shot passed Ronwen Williams.
However, Sundowns restored their two-goal lead just before the break when Mailula completed his brace with another superb finish.
Coton Sport almost pulled another back in the 59th minute when they found space down the right flank and the cross into the box was deflected by Mvala towards goal but Williams saved his team the blushes.
Mudau almost made it 4-1 in the 74th minute after fine interplay with Morena, but only hit the outside of the post, with Downs bringing their second win home in a less action-packed second half.
The win sees Downs continue their perfect start in Group B, where they lead the table with six points from two matches before facing record champions Al Ahly twice.
The Egyptian giants start their group stage campaign on Saturday when they will face Al Hilal after missing the first round due to their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.
