Orlando Pirates could soon part ways with one of their midfielders who is worth just over R21 million if media reports are anything to go by.
According to a report by The South African, Fortune Makaringe is starring the exit door at Pirates after having fallen down the pecking order.
Makaringe last featured for Pirates on 29 October 2022 when they lost 1-0 to arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby.
Since then, Pirates have played seven competitive matches, and all Makaringe could afford was a place on the bench on two occasions.
Overall, Makaringe has featured just 10 times foral Pirates this season – eight league appearances and two in the MTN8.
Coach Jose Riveiro appears to prefer Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo in that attacking midfield role with his wingers doing the most work in the final third.
Makaringe, 29, arrived at Pirates as hot property in 2019 from Maritzburg United, and this was when Micho Sredojevic was the head coach.
He immediately took the PSL by storm with his skill and ability to create and score goals for the Sea Robbers.
Since his arrival, Makaringe has made an overall of 124 appearances. He has nine goals and eight assists to his name.
