With Mamelodi Sundowns star Thapelo Morena having recently visited the dentist, here’s a closer look at the reason why the fullback keeps smiling!
A few weeks ago, the Randfontein-born player visited the Tooth Fairy Dental Clinic in Pretoria to get his smile brightened.
The right-back is quite popular for his smile, as he is in the minority of footballers who consistently play with a smile, much like former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona, who eventually earned the nickname “The Smiling Assassin”.
It is no secret that the five-time PSL champion is a family-man as well, and while many would like to think smiling is his general nature, Morena has long revealed the reason he is always smiling – with that being “MaMorena”, his wife.
While it is unclear exactly how long the pair have been together, the couple are believed to have been together for almost 10 years, if not slightly more. Their cute family also shares two adorable daughters.
The 29-year-old has kept the bond with his lovely “Junju” since he was still a rising at Bloemfontein Celtic, while she has also gone on to achieve greater things including a Masters qualification at the University of Free State.
On the footballing front, Morena is on course to claim his sixth league title in seven seasons at Chloorkop.
His trophy cabinet also includes a CAF Super Cup and all three domestic trophies; namely The Nedbank Cup, MTN8, as well as the discontinued Telkom Knockout, which will be replaced by Carling Knockout Cup in the 2023/24 season.
The CAF Champions League remains the only trophy that has eluded the player so far. The Brazilians take on Sudanese outfit Al-Hilal this weekend in the opening group match.
