Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahli Saudi have signed Brazilian striker Marcos Amaral to strengthen his squad.
Amaral, also known as Marcao, joined Al Ahli from Wuhan Three Towns after bombing them to the Chinese Super League title with 27 goals in 26 games.
He made the switch to Saudi Arabia in a deal worth €4.5 million (R83 million) and will add more fire power to Mosimane’s squad.
Marcao moved from his native Brazil to South Korea in 2016, joining Gyeongnam FC for whom he scored 49 goals in 66 games, winning successive Golden Boot awards.
He then moved to Hebei FC in 2019 and netted 23 times in 47 games during his first stint in China.
In 2021, he joined Wuhan Three Towns, scoring 39 goals in 46 games overall for the club. His exploits last season earned him his third Golden Boot.
He’s now joined Al Ahli after putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal, as confirmed by the club.
Al Ahli are still unbeaten since Mosimane joined them, picking up six wins and five draws to climb into the automatic promotion spot. They return to action on Tuesday when they will take on Al Jabalain.
