Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that new striker Christian Saile Basomboli will not be available for Saturday’s clash against Mamelodi Sundowns and only start team training next week.
Chiefs will take on the log leaders at FNB Stadium at 20:00 on Saturday, entering the game 19 points behind the Masandawana.
The Amakhosi announced the signing of Basomboli on Thursday, with many believing he could boost Arthur Zwane’s squad against Downs already, but Chiefs confirmed he will only join them next week.
“Amakhosi bought the 22-year-old left-footed striker from Nchanga Rangers in Zambia,” the club said.
“Basomboli arrives in Naturena after penning a three-and-half year deal with the Glamour Boys.
“He will join the team training in the next week.”
Basomboli impressed Arthur Zwane and the Chiefs technical team on trial during the 2022 FIFA World Cup break, as previously reported by iDiski Times.
The 22-year-old arrived in Zambia in 2021 and played with Nchanga Rangers in the National Division One, where he was the top goal scorer with 19 goals and helped promote Rangers.
This campaign he continued with his rich vein of form, which earned him his move to South Africa.
